How an ATS reads your resume
An applicant tracking system parses your resume into fields (contact details, job titles, dates, skills) and lets recruiters search and filter candidates. Clear structure and the same wording as the job post, where it is true, make you easier to find.
What this checker looks at
- Keyword coverage: skills, tools and job titles from the post that are missing from your resume.
- Match score: an AI estimate (0 to 100) of how well your resume covers the role.
- 5 specific fixes: concrete edits that reference your own experience.
ATS-friendly formatting checklist
- Use standard headings: Summary, Experience, Education, Skills.
- Put job titles, employers and dates on their own lines.
- Avoid text boxes, tables and images for important content.
- Spell out acronyms once, for example "search engine optimization (SEO)".
- Save as a text-based PDF or DOCX, not a scanned image.
Using the results honestly
Add a missing keyword only if you genuinely have that skill, and prove it with a result in a bullet. Keyword stuffing can pass a filter but rarely survives a recruiter's read.
